League confirms Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh under scrutiny over Matt Schaub hit – NFL News
Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub has criticised the quality of football Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh played against them on Thanksgiving Day while the latter remains under scrutiny of the National Football League (NFL) over a hit to
Schaub, as confirmed by its spokesman Greg Aiello.
Suh hit Schaub in the groin area and Aiello said the league office was looking into the evidence to see if the hit was deliberate, but Schaub while questioning the rough play by the DT said he does not see players like Suh fitting standards and quality of
football the Houston Texans play.
Schaub told a local radio channel:
"You don't want a player like that. The stuff that he stands for and the type of player he is, that's not Houston Texan-worthy. That's not what we're about as a football team, as individuals, collectively as a group; we're not that type of person."
Although Schaub appears to be fine, it is likely that the league office slaps Suh with a fine, as indicated by the spokesman. According to him, the league office has informed the Texans that they will not scrutinise the player for a possible suspension,
but they will look into the video recording to see if he is guilty of hitting the QB deliberately.
It is one of rare incidents this season that Schaub has become a subject of rough play or a hit more precisely. He spent almost half of the 2011 season with a foot injury. He has remained hundred percent fit this season so far.
There was no such other incident in the game played between the two sides except for Suh’s hit. Some circles closer to Suh have defended the player being young and energetic to be an excuse for him to go all over and lose discipline.
Irrespective of this view, he might receive a hefty fine from the league office, although there is a question mark why the office has refused to look into the matter from suspension perspective.
