League leaders Vancouver Canucks host the Anaheim Ducks looking for a 7th straight win
The final game of Wednesday will see the current league leaders Vancouver Canucks play host to the 2006 Stanley Cup winners Anaheim Ducks. Both teams have played each other two times already out of which they have won a game apiece. Ducks won the first game
while the Canucks won the last game 5-4 after shootout. This will be the third out of the four scheduled meetings between the two sides.
Vancouver Canucks are on a role as they have won their last six games and are in good shape to win the seventh as well. Before this they had an impressive eight consecutive games winning streak.
Canucks have been the dominating force in the season who has maintained a phenomenal home record going 15 games unbeaten. Vancouver Canucks maintain a very impressive record winning 25 games in regulation time, 3 games in overtime and lost 6 games out of
the last 34 games they have played.
Anaheim Ducks on the other hand also managed to record three consecutive wins. On the road they also lost the match against the Canucks in shootout.
Anaheim Ducks' last few games have seen ups and down with goal keeper disappointment against the Sharks as he allowed two goals past him in the opening 20 minutes of the match.
Jonas Hiller, the goalkeeper might have faced this due to fatigue as he has played in 47 consecutive games. The good news for the Ducks camp is the fact there star player Corey Perry is starting to come up with decent performances bagging goals every now
and then.
"Unselfish," Perry said. "That's how we're continuing our success, unselfish play."
Anaheim Ducks have played 54 games in the season so far out which they have won 29 games in regulation time, 4 games in overtime and have scored 62 points. Canucks have been in hot form as they have scored 79 points so far after playing 54 games winning
35 games in regulation time and 9 games in overtime.
Vancouver Canucks on the other hand have come up with a lot of spectacular performances that have caught the eyes of many. Though they are currently leading the league but they also come across a few problems ahead of the game. Keith Bollard who has played
in key role in every one of the matches he has played so far for the Canucks got himself injured and will be out.
He twisted his knee in the direction opposite to where he wanted to go. "I didn't think I could bend like that," Ballard said Tuesday. "I'm not the most flexible person, it's pretty impressive. I don't think bodies are supposed to move like that."
With Bollard sidelined after the injury, veteran Christopher Taney will be playing who will be glad to find this out.
"He's done very well. He came in, it was a very seamless transition from his first game and he kept getting better from there. I think our depth is being tested again and it's good to have guys playing well’ said Bollard.
