League leaders Vancouver Canucks win 5-2 against the Dallas Stars
Another one of the important games of Saturday was the league leaders Vancouver Canucks playing host to the Dallas Stars at the Rogers Arena. The Stars were desperate for a win as they lost their last three consecutive games a slipped to the final play-off
spot.
However, the Canucks had other things in mind and came up with a very strong team that dominated the game and gave the Stars absolutely no space early on. Their dominance was rewarded in the final period as they score thrice and won the game comprehensively
5-2 in the end. Though the Stars tried very hard to make their way back into the game but they weren’t successful in doing so. Daniel Sedin, winger of the Canucks was named the star of the game as he scored two goals and came up with a very important assist.
Both teams exploded at the start of the game with both teams coming up with shots on goal every now and then. It didn’t take long as the Canucks scored in the 3rd minute to get into the lead. The goal was scored by Daniel Sedin from a well placed
flick shot.
The Stars weren’t far behind as they managed to come up with some strong plays that resulted in them scoring in the 5th minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by James Neal from a decent strike. The period continued with both teams keeping
the pressure on the opposition but they could score any further goals.
Shots came and were missed as the period ended with the scores level on 1-1. During the course of the period, Canucks made 14 goal attempts while the Stars made 11 goal attempts.
The second period saw the Canucks continuing on the dominating roads as they kept on firing shots on goal. Their passing and shooting was superb at the start and they scored in the 7th minute to get back into the lead.
The goal was scored by Raffi Torres from a powerful strike that went flying into the back of the net. The Stars managed to come up with a few goal attempts but unfortunately they weren’t able to score any goals during the course of the period.
The period ended on a high note for the Canucks as finished very strong offensively firing shots every now and then. The Canucks led 2-1 as the period ended with the Canucks making 13 goal attempts while the Stars made 5 goal attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play didn’t see much happening early on. But after a few minute, the game caught pace and the Canucks scored once again in the 8th minute through Daniel Sedin. However, the Stars were able to pull one back as they scored
through Brenden Morrow in the 14th minute.
Though the teams were almost even in terms of goal attempts made but the Canucks were more productive of the two teams. They scored in the two goals in the 16th and 17th minutes to seal the game. The goals were scored by Henrik Sedin
and Raffi Torres respectively.
The period and the game ended with the Canucks winning the game 5-2 in the end. The final period saw the Canucks making 11 goal attempts while the Stars made 8 goal attempts.
