League not allowing Alan Casden as Los Angeles Dodgers' potential bidder – MLB News
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ sale has another twist now. The long time potential looking buyer of the franchise, a real estate developer, Alan Casden, is barred by the Major League authorities to bid for the Dodgers.
Reports are coming in the media that the League’s top executives have some issues regarding Casden and thus for not allowing him to further participate in the Dodgers’ sale. It has been many months now since the sale of South Los Angeles’ baseball franchise
is creating a buzz, but not only it is not happening, but more pressure is also coming on the MLB and on its top executives. At the moment, Casden’s bidding rejection issues have once again sparked the whole media who are also questioning the League’s authority
on this sale process.
Casden, who has not much spoken in the media regarding the late bidding rejection from Major League, but still his sources have issued a statement in which he has showed the direct level of interest in the Dodgers franchise.
“We were a serious and solidly financed bidder who wanted to return local ownership of the Dodgers to the City of Los Angeles and were completely committed to putting a championship team on the field and providing a first class experience for fans," Casden's
statement said. "We wish the other bidders the best and hope that the right choice is made for the sake of the team, the fans and the City. If in the future there is any opportunity for me to assist in any way, I stand ready because I love this City, and the
Dodgers.”
The Los Angeles Dodgers potential bidders now comprise of hedge-fund billionaire Steven Cohen, MLB agent Arn Tellem, St. Louis Rams’ owner Stan Kroenke, baseball executive Stan Kasten, Guggenheim, Mark Walter and Magic Johnson.
In the meanwhile, the League is expecting this sale process must complete before the start of 2012 season. While as soon as this process ends, new Dodgers’ owners also need some time to see the deficiencies in the franchise and how to empower every individual
who will be indirectly responsible for the team’s results from next season onwards.
