Leah Winckler pockets Girl’s 50 yard butterfly title: 2011 High School State Championships
SR DeForest’s Leah Winckler, SO Shorewood’s Kristin Malone and JR Milton’s Katelyn Holmquist splashed hard to demolish their challengers in the arena of competitive swimming at the 2011 High School State Championships, in Madison, during the last weekend.
Winckler kicked out her rivals including Savanna Townsend and Annelise Sprau by claiming the finishing cordon in a winning time of 56.90 seconds to seal the Girl’s 50 yard butterfly title. Meanwhile, Townsend was placed second in a mark of 57.00 seconds
and Sprau earned bronze title in 57.62 seconds.
Kate Criter of SR Plymouth earned fourth place honours by clicking the finishing barrier in a time of 58.02 seconds, while Claire O’Connell of FR Ashwaubenon settled at fifth place in a spot of 58.70 seconds.
Additionally, the Girl’s 100m freestyle title was captured by SO Shorewood’s Kristin Malone in a winning time of 51.33 seconds. Alli Bellford was placed at second position in a mark of 52.37 seconds and Sierra Sachtjen of SR Lodi earned bronze medal in a
blot of 52.65 seconds. Chelsea Statz of SR DeForest got fourth position in a time of 52.71 seconds, while Rachel Johnson claimed fifth spot by hitting the finishing fence in a time of 52.73 seconds.
Last, but not the least, the Girl’s 100m back-stroke title was snatched by Katelyn Holmquist of JR Milton in a winning blot of 56.08 seconds. After the race, Bridgette Alexander of SO Milton claimed silver medal by banging the finishing blockade in a time
of 56.39 seconds and Chelsea Calhoon of SO Milton pocketed bronze title in a mark of 58.38 seconds, respectively.
In the meantime, Lexi Utech of SR Wauwatosa West outperformed her rival, Maddie Rastall of JR Marinette by thrashing the finishing hurdle in a winning time of 58.72 seconds to settle at fourth position in the respective meet. Last, but not the least, the
fifth place honour went to Rastall in a mark of 58.85 seconds.
Due to their remarkable swimming efforts in the pool, the toppers, SR’s DeForest’s Leah Winckler, SO Shorewood’s Kristin Malone and JR Milton’s Katelyn Holmquist were honoured with gold, silver and bronze titles after the session’s end.
