  1. The two are not related. In front, the mechanic said you might replace a SEAL? You mean windshield seal? Here's what's most common: A. Windshield seal leaking, even though not visible to you. It's quite possible that on a car that old, the 'shield may have been replaced several times, maybe even due to a collision. sometimes they develop over time, even if properly installed. B.: Heater core. Under the passenger side of dash generally, and on your model definitely. This is smaller version f your radiator under your hood, and it can deteriorate just like your big one, leaking coolant or water inside. Do you have to use defrost in the morning 'cause windshield's fogged up?   #2.: TRUNK LEAK : Dry the gasket around your trunk thoroughly, close it then run a water hose ALL over it for several minutes. Then slowly open and inspect for wetness anywhere. If you suspect back glass leakage, First line your ENTIRE TRUNK FLOOR with newspaper and repeat. This will Quickly indicate at least which corner leak originates. Good luck..
