Leaky Delta single handle shower faucet

I know how to fix the leak.. the problem is.. I can not remove the chrome dome to get to the problem. Any ideas on how to remove it with out destroying the entire valve.

Not sure what you mean by chrome dome but the handel is secured with an Allen key and the chrome covering the valve stem is removed by unscrewing counter clockwise. A plumber might use a strap wrench to turn it off or something like a rubber jar opener that you wrap around and use your hand to turn it off. sometimes this chrome part can get distorted if you use pliers and that is what you want to avoid.
