Leander Paes has no disappointment despite the US Open final loss – Tennis News
Evergreen team of Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan clasped the US Open title after the straight sets demolition of the experienced Indo-Czech duo of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek. However, the runners up team had no grudges at all because
according to them they played their best tennis ever; luck didn’t go their way.
Talking to the media representatives in a post-match press conference, Paes stated, "Even though we got beaten today by one of the greatest teams of all time, my team and Radek's team came out and brought everything they had to
this tournament. I can guarantee you we will be giving it everything we have every single day for the rest of the year."
It was the sixth head-to-head battle between the American duo and Paes/Stepanek. Five of the six clashes were played in the current season with Bryan brothers winning the first one in the quarter-final of the Apia Sydney International.
However, they witnessed two back-to-back defeats in the final of the Australian Open at Melbourne and the semi-final at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. It seemed like the Americans were ruled easily by the Indo-Czech duo but the quarter-final clash in the
Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters turned the tables on their rivals and they clasped their third head-to-head win.
Yesterday, Bryans kicked off very well and their efforts were rewarded in the sixth game when Stepanek failed to return the accurate and fast return and lost the breakpoint. The start to the second set was emphatic for the Americans
who broke serve in the first game and managed to retain the lead until the end of the match.
Talking about the encounter, Stepanek confessed, “I think they started really well. They were all over our serve from the beginning and making life very difficult for us out there. They were the better team today, so they deserve
the win."
It was the fourth win for Bryan brothers who have managed to clasp yet another Grand Slam title under their belt. They are 34 years of age but still looking extremely fit and tough especially at the hard courts. It will be interesting
to see how the 39-year-old Paes from Indian and 35-year-old Stepanek tackle the next meeting between the two teams. It is expected to be a tougher contest but Paes had no disappointments from this one as well. So, everything seems fine at the moment.
