  1. I love Leap frog.  There very educational for children plus also fun to play w/!  I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old and they love leap frog toys.  The vtech I found they get bored of easily!

Also there's a toy called Kinderbot.  Its a robot that helps children learn just about everything.  My son learned his ABC's from this toy!

  2. Love the Leapfrog!

The books are great and the games are great as well.  I like to hook it up to the tv so that it is big for her to see.  She thinks it's cool too!

  3. I don't have any children but I am a full time nanny for 6 amazing kids from 2-10.  I have to say I love the vech computers for the kids. They are doing so well with their letters and numbers on them.

  4. I got my daughter a leapfrog leapster for x-mas and she loves it.  it seems to be really durable and it's small enough to take in the car with you without being to little.  actually i just got her a new cartridge for it to give her for valentines day.  the games seem to be fun but still educational.  i was concerned with the price when i bought it but it seems to be well worth it so far.  she hasn't gotten tired of it and keeps track of it so that makes me happy.

  5. I have used all three to variying degrees with my children and in my daycare.

My personal favorite brand would be Leap Frog.

    Some toys/DVD's worth getting:

Leap Frog Fridge Phonics - It teaches each letter of the alphabet wih a song, as well as the ABC song.  You can buy lower case letters separately, but we never did.  I use it daily with my daycare on a large cookie sheet.

Leap Frog DVD's:  All are good!  Letter Factory is superb.  Kids learn their letters and their sounds through a cartoon that includes a clue (C is c-c-c-cold, P turns into popcorn) and it is fun and very educational.

Talking Word Factory is good for more advanced phonics learning. Math Circus is fun for introduction to numbers, counting, addition, skip counting, etc.  The Code Word Caper is much more advanced phonics and The Storybook Factory is reading fluency.  The last two are good, but for much more adbanced kiddos.

I tried the My First LeapPad and LeapPad with my children, and these were not big hits, they played with them on and off.  Many of my friends love them.  The idea of a book that talked freaked my girls out.

We have Leapsters as well and nearly every cartridge out there.  This gets very expensive, but I buy them all on ebay, and that helps a lot!  We love these, and they go from PreK to 3rd-4th grade or so.

    LeapFrog . . . really quality stuff!

    Vtech:

I bought the v.smile for my girls when my oldest was three or four.  She did not know what to do with it, and since neither my husband nor I play video games, it sat for a full year with very little use.  When she discovered it, she loved to play it.  It is very sturdy and had games that she really liked to play with educational value.  We bought both girls a v.smile pocket (again - ebay) when my older daughter saw a "GameBoy" and wanted one.  My older daughter loved it, not as much my younger daughter.  We have about every smartridge, the art studio, jammin gym class for this as well.  They seem to like the Leapsters (from Santa this year) better, and I keep thinking that it is time to sell.  I don't care for the art studio or jammin gym class accessories as much on this system, seems watered down to me.

I don't have as much experience with this brand, but we've had things here and there, I can't remember the names though.  There was one thing, a pull toy lady bug that my girls liked, I think it was from vtech.

Good for early use, but not as good as LeapFrog.  Smartridges are for younger kids, and less expensive though.

    Fisher Price:

I am a Fisher Price Collector, I collect items from my childhood and restore them.  The old Little People RULE!

As far as electronics, we have the digital cameras, and those are great.  My daughter (younger) got hers when she was barely 3, and we were positive that she'd become a papparazzi, she took so many pictures!  She has taken well over 10,000 pix so far, dropped it many times and it's still working great!

The Powertouch by Fisher Price was their answer to LeapPad, and it is about gone now.  This is a bad buy, since there are very few books to use with it and none being made now.

Old FIsher Price CD-ROMS (easy to find on ebay, and can be played on XP with compatibility settings set to Win 98) are great for younger kids . . . Time to Play Pet Shop, Western Town and Pirate Ship are fun and easy for kds as young as three to play.

Good luck!  Sorry this is long . . . Just had a lot to say on this topic!  LOL
