Learn chinese,Is this weird?

When a malays learn chinese,it's weird?I don't understand why everybody say I'm a chinese just because I'm understand chinese?

its not at all weird...this is Malaysia and even i can speak Chinese (i'm not Chinese) and i totally get it when people ask you that..as what the first answerer said, probably its because of your looks.. i can only say that just don't bother whatever people say, keep learning Chinese or as many other languages you can as learning another language is an advantage since we live in a multiracial country.

Learning mandarin(chinese) is good because its the largest language used in the world after english.I'm a malay and I will learn mandarin soon or later...

In Malaysia, some 65% are Malays and some 25% are Chinese . Some 75% or more of these Chinese can speak Malay, but what portion of these 65%  Malays can speak Chinese ?   1% or less ?  There are even cases of a Chinese teacher teaching Malay children Malay !   This is even more weird than your ability to speak Chinese...
