Learn how to shred on an acoustic guitar?

before you say something crazy. I just wanto to let you know that that isn't a bad idea, I've heard it before & it sounds nice. Where can I learn how to play fast on my acoustic guitar?

  1. Well, speed doesn't come from practicing fast.  Speed comes naturally when your hands and fingers "know" exactly what to do and this comes from slow deliberate practice that builds in speed as you are able to maintain precision.  It isn't until you have the muscle memory and the left-right hand coordination down that you can shred.

    If you think about it, you can move your hand up and down the neck quickly already, and you can go nuts with a pick, but it sounds like c**p because your hands have no idea how to work together.

    You might consider playing with a thumb pick, but it's really more for being able to play bass chords along with melody.

  3. Practice... A lot. I dont really know exactly where to learn it though. Its a bit harder than electric though. It does sound great when done right.
