Learn more history about my genealogy?

Question

I know i am Scottish, Irish and somewhat Native American. I do not have anybody who could tell me about my native american background or how i could "get in touch" with it. I am very proud that i have native blood in me and want to learn how to honor it. (My great grandmother was a free lance native who came from the states into Canada, but their may be other ancestors that are unknown). If anyone knows anyone i could email or even a website i could look at that deals with stuff like my issue please tell me about. Please help. : )

Start here, to get an overall idea of the process of finding (all) records, and how to insure that you have accurate information. By finding the documents, you have a much better chance to learn details about gr grandmother, and more important, her actual place of birth. Depending on when she immigrated, you may also find her parents in records, ie census or others.  This is how you have a much better chance to find explicit info on which tribe she may have been from.

Once you have that.. almost all tribes are now online, and you can contact them for more details, or search online for indepth history.

By the way.. there are thousands of sites related to genealogy. Keep your mind open and don't limit your options for info. Cyndis list is great, you already have been offered her site.

Have a look at the history books , I know that during the time of sitting bull and custers last stand, many lakotah and other peoples were sent to Canada by the government. If you have one native american ancestor then you have many , you are descended from a long line of people.
