Learned from our Mistakes says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397-Cricket News Update
Following the conclusion of the second ODI against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene, has stated that the positive result was due to his side learning from their previous mistakes, committed during the opening ODI defeat.
"It is funny what two days of cricket does to you. I think we did a lot of good things the other night and we knew we just had to learn from our mistakes. I don't think we fielded very well in this match either, but the bowlers did very well," said Jayawardene.
The first encounter between the two sides was won by the visitors after they posted a mammoth 314 on the board, courtesy http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737, both of whom stood in a imposing stand which saw the veteran scoring 96, while the vice-captain posting
his fourth ton in five innings.
The Lankan batting was unable to chase the huge total, despite a valiant 133-run effort from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779. His knock brought his side closer to victory before eventually being halted at 293.
The second ODI began in the same fashion with Indian batsmen dictating terms. The first three overs went for over ten runs per over however, events after that only sided the home team as Thisara Perera and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913 ran through the Indian batting lineup.
The first three overs from Perera were wicket maidens, in which he claimed the all important scalps of  Sehwag, Kohli and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539.
With half the team back on 60, the Lankans piled on further misery for the hosts, taking timely inroads, eventually halting them on a lowly 138, with only http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 offering respectability with a score in excess of 50.
However, the Lankans made easy work of the target, accomplishing it in just a touch under 20 overs, while leaving Jayawardene to praise their spirited comeback in the series.
"We had a chat about losing the first game and that's what is good about our guys, we are always hungry to come back and we even did it in the series versus http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 earlier this year," the Lankan captain added.
With the series levelled at one a piece, both sides will now meet in the third ODI, scheduled to be played on the 28th of July at Colombo.
