So, I'm turning 17 in 4 months, And I currently Play football and Lacrosse, I love both sports, but i've always thought fighting may just be what i could enjoy doing. I was wondering what would be my best course of action if I wanted to start fighting in MMA event (such as which martial art would best suit me, where could i learn this [in NJ])

I weight about 170lbs, 5'10. Strong Lower body (deadlift 460, Squat 360) As well as decent upperbody (Bench 210). How can i get into the sport as well as start loosing the stomach fat to get into better shape. (smaller/more agile)

  1. The best way is just go to your local mma training center most towns have multiple gyms just go and train hard the trainers will try to determine the martail art that fits you

  2. just google martial arts gyms in ur area, u need to go to some dojos try some classes before u know what you like and what will best work for you, just go find a dojo that affordable for you, and can help get you the classes you might want whether it be a pure martial arts or more of mma kind of thing

just do more sit ups to lose stomach fat, just a quick note dont get shocked when guy who seem to have no muscle mass, and cant even bench 100 pounds start tooling on you, most martial arts value technique more then power alone

    good luck

  3. I think it would be pretty hard to jump right into MMA without any experience at all.

  4. If u want to loose fat then run a lot. If you want to fight, then fight. If u don't want to pay to learn then find websites that can teach you.

  5. I have been into mixed martial arts for quite a while. i would suggest that if you are planning on training specifically to fight in a cage style situation. you should look to train in all the ranges. there are four ranges in fighting; kicking, punching, elbow and headbut range. if you would like to become an amateur fighter then you will most likely need to learn more then one martial art.that is why it is called mma (mixed martial arts) one of the best pieces of advice that i can give you is that if you are still in school then take advantage of its wrestling program, i can tell you from personal experience that if you want to learn how to condition your body wrestling will help you alot. as well as making you more comfortable fighting on the ground. the other piece of advice that i am going to offer is that speed and agility is an illusion. weight does not effect how fast you are, what matters is moving your body efficiently. learn to move your body in straight lines from point (a) to point (b) and you will appear to be very fast.  if you have any more questions dont be afraid to ask..
