Learning Punjabi in Delhi or areas of Punjab?

I'm from Canada but recently went for a trip to India last month. Although my parents are able to speak punjabi, I guess growing up here (and the fact that my dad grew up in england) means that I have a really hard time trying to speak the language since we speak english at home. I was able to pick some up during my last trip however it was still very frustrating to understand half of what my relatives were saying and still be unable to speak enough to carry on a conversation.

I'm planning on going to India for 3-4 months probably next summer (2009) and wanted to know if anyone knew a good place to take punjabi classes...whether it be at a university, college or even a private instructor. The areas that would be most convenient would be Delhi, Nawanshar or Hoshiarpur. Thanks!

  1. You dont need any classes to learn punjabi. Just go and stay few months in Nawanshahr or Hoshiarpur, you would pick more of it.

By the way it is good to know that you are interested in learning punjabi. Cheers.
