Question:

Learning a culture?

I am going to Switzerland for three weeks to be fostered and learn French. I am quite nervous. I am okay with not seeing my family but is there anything really different I need to know? I am in England btw. I am really scared that I will mess up etiquette or something. Oh, and are boys fit in Switzerland?

  1. Switzerland is really nice, v.v lax.. like the other person said, just be yourself. I cannot answer that last question because I am not g*y.

  2. Be yourself! Enjoy your time taking in the benefits of a new culture. There isn't anything overly different about the etiquette and manners in Switzerland, well nothing that will get you landed in front of a firing squad. We have had a billet before, and the different things they do away from home you do not find offensive, it's all part of the learning curb! They'll probably just think you're a comedian!

  3. Switzerland is a lovely place!

All you need to do is be polite, just like you would in your home country.

Try to make an effort to speak the local language but if you can, tell them before hand that you can not speak the language well.

More than half the time they will understand and help you out, and warm up to you a lot more than they would, if you walk in and start speaking English, without trying to speak their tongue.

There aren't really too many differences (but that may be because I've lived in Germany too long and been to Switzerland way too often), just the language.

Boys are pleasant to the eyes there just as muc has they would be in England. =)

That being said, the Swiss have some ugly ones all the same.

Enjoy yourself! Switzerland is an absolutely beautiful country to visit!
