I just like to learn about the heart pulse for general interest so are there any short courses, workshops around or equivalent? If so are they're around the Sydney area where I live?

  1. There is usually not a separate course. It is just a tiny part of the circulation.  Pulse is how many beats per minute your heart is beating. Normal for adults is 60-100 BPM. Children are higher.  There are different pulse locations on your body. Wrist-radial pulse,  arm- brachial pulse, neck-carotid pulse, top of foot-dorsal pulse. there are more but cant think of it right now.   hope this helps.

  2. You can do a first aid course which should teach you a little about the pulse. Level 2 which is the general one only takes about 2 days.

This will teach you how to look for the pulse and if you have a good teacher you should also be able to learn what the differences are from infants to children to adults. They each have different pulse rates which are correct for them.

Look for St John Ambulance these are one of the best groups.

If you want to know what happens to your pulse during excercise try talking to a trainer at a local gym.
