  1. Start acoustic, its more convenient. Electric you have to plug it in and carry the cable ect. if you want to get an electric, my opinion is get it when you can play about 3 whole songs perfect on the acoustic, by then you will be in to guitars and want to actually learn more

  2. I know several people who are skilled at guitar, but when practicing and starting, they've always used acoustic.  I would definitely recommend starting on acoustic and adjusting to the feel of the guitar.  Learn to read tabs, play chords, etc.

Also, it's best since it's about 20 times quieter than an electric.  If you feel like you want to upgrade to a different sound, then explore electric.

  3. acoustic because you can take it where there might not be any power source.  also its much easier to just grab it and play without all the wires and electronics

  4. I just started learning guitar about 3 months ago. I was continuously told by EVERYBODY that you have have to learn on an acoustic, so that's what I bought. Then when I began my lessons, my teacher said something that made a lot of sense. You choose the guitar you begin on by what type of music you want to learn. I want to learn rock and metal music- so I needed to just start and stick with an electric guitar.

So what type of music are you wanting to play? If you want to play rock, start on an electric. If you want to play something like country, start on an acoustic.

  5. It depends on what type of music you're into.  I learned on acoustic with nylon strings, this was easy because the strings are soft. But if you're really into rock, electric would be more fun because of the sound. But acoustic might be easier for learning the basics and then when you are getting used to it switch over to electric.
