Learning how to hold breath?

i need to learn how to hold my breath longer,are there any secrets or excersizes i can do to learn?

  1. Don't Smoke anything and build your cardio endurance to help increase lung capacity for oxygen intake. Holding ones breath is all mental if you don't mind it don't matter, good luck.


  2. Do lots of under-water swimming in the pool. Start with 10 metres and if you are comfortable, attempt 15m, 25m and 50m. May take many months of practice but perseverance pays. Ensure that you breathe out a little , esp towards the final 25-40% of the distance. You will get the hang of taking in deeper breaths, as you go along. A word of caution though--do not overdo these exercises until you get dizzy. There is no point setting records for a 2-3 minute breath-hold just to beat somebody u know as lack of oxygen will have serious side-effects.

  3. Well when you take your deep breath, breath really deep

    through your nose and mouth.
