  1. That's the best way to learn. As a former preschool teacher, I found it was more effective to teach the children in a way that was fun than just "teach" them. They get more out of it when they are involved and they have fun with it. Half the time they didn't even realize they were learning!

  2. Absolutely while children are enjoying themselves they are continually learning - fine motor skills gross motor skills, Language and literacy, Personal and social skills mathematical skills, creative skills knowledge and understanding of the world and all of that can take place just sat at the playdough table.  There is a whole wealth of opportunity out there in play and it is certainly the best way to learn and my pre-school supports it whole heartedly.

  3. that's the best way to teach children with out any pressure for a pre schooler. In that way they will learn fast.

  4. I am a cycle 1 teacher of English. I have lately realized that playing is vital in classrooms; not only in teaching but after the learning phase has occured. Kids seem to blossom when they do any activity, even their attention spam looks "bigger". I am preparing a project about that and i made a research about the subject. My viewpoint is clarified and proved to be completely true. I am so glad for this. Share my modest experience in your classes and tell me!

  5. Play is the best way to learn.  With no pressure and lots of fun.  This teaches children the love of learning.

I homeschooled my three children.  I used games to teach, drill, review most of the material they needed to learn.  I made well over 1000 educational games especially for them.

I am now working with my preschool grandsons.  We play!  The 3 1/2 year old is reading short vowel words, can count to 100, is beginning to understand addition and subtraction.  He loves maps and globes and can find many places, name the four oceans, and is working (or should I say PLAYING?) at learning the continents.  The almost two year old can sing the ABC song, recognizes many of the letters, knows many animals and all pieces of farm and construction equipment.  All this is done with games and play.  We just have FUN learning together.  There is never any pressure to sit and do lessons.  Instead, they will beg to "do school."

I teach workshops showing parents and teachers how to make their own educational games--games that fit the exact needs of the child(ren).

  6. children learn so much through play from sharing to role play, learning to accept others input etc. i live in wales and am a qualified playworker and the difference in the children since i started playschemes is incredible, so much so that the school curriculam for us next year is to implement more play in school

  7. Children learn many things through play.

Sandbox play: fill containers until they overflow. They are learning displacement and space only holds so much, big and little, ways to fill a container, shapes..texture...to eat or not to eat...restrictions or rules about keeping sand in sandbox (that is the hard one), dont throw sand because...makebelieve by doing roads and cars

Coloring: naming colors, counting colors and objects, likes and dislikes (I loved searching for the right picture to color), coloring alone and with someone (sharing), sense of story

Kids work during the day is play. That is why you/they vary it.

  8. the question is what is learning be it through play or other wise. if you make a mistake do you learn from it. we are all individuals and learn in our own way. we learn all the time from the minute we are born to the day we die

  9. the best way to learn

  12. Learning through play is the best way! Pick up this book:

Montessori Play and Learn by Lesley Britton

There are lots of great ideas!

  13. Yes!! That is correct! John Dewey who is a philosopher believes that people can teach the children in a different ways, not in the traditional ways, like most of the people are accustomed. I encourage you to read Dewey's philosophical ideas about education. Also another philosopher of education is Alfred North Whitehead, he is a conservative philosopher.  I encourage you to find more information about this two tremendous philosophers.

  14. learning through play is actually a very good way ,they like to play..if their play time is inside to color, count crayons, and ask about the colors. Coloring is good for hand-eye coordination. Playing outside kicking ball around, great for lg. muscle skills. Playing with blocks, you have a triangle, wow, this would make a great roof for your house.

  15. Learning through play is the best way to teach children.  Children learn more by doing rather then by seeing, so by teaching them through play they are gaining many skills.

Manipulative Play (puzzles, legos, stringing beads etc) - children are learning to use fine motor skills, and problem solving.

Dramatic Play (dress up, housekeeping, role play etc) - children model real life, they use their imagination, they try to figure out how and why things are going on and how they model how they see the people around them.

Blocks (wood blocks, foam blocks, chunky blocks, brillo blocks, cars, trucks, garages, farms etc) - children learn creativity, imaginative play, fine motor skills, construction and more.

Science and Sensory (playdoh, magnifying glasses, texture blocks, scented blocks etc) - children learn textures, about their senses, and about the world around them.

There are many more areas and activities for children to discover and play in.  As you can see by my answer children can effectively learn through exploration and play.  Children can learn through self discovery and directed play.  They can also benefit through being allowed time to play and learn.

  16. It's the best way to learn
