Question:

Learning to be harsh, hard and stand up for yourself?

I keep reading the Yahoo Answers and it seems to be a reacurring problem for people- learning to stand up for yourself!

Guys do it instinctively- they get defencive and tell you to butt off, they seem to have an easier time with it.

But whenever a girl is pushed to the ground and stepped on, she feels the need to seek approval to be harsh, rude to others and stand up for herself. Otherwise she's seen as a *****! Why is it so accepted by our society to accept a man's retaliation with no thought to it and to analyse to the core whenever a girl has enough guts to stand up for herself? It's so frustrating.

I'm not a feminist as such, I just realised this from all the questions I've read.

  1. During my yrs in high school i was constantly picked on and bullied. My nephews mothers younger sisters used to call me names and told me i wasnt as pretty as the other girls. Because i was too shy to stand up for myself i became frustrated and often took it out on whatever was near me at the time.It was after i lost weight and realised that being tall was a good thing i started to gain a little more confidence.

Im very outspoken and will always stick up for myself because i know that no one can touch me. No one can tell you what you are because they dont know who you are. They have no clue. If someone is nasty speak up and let it be heard or seen.

  2. Yeah I had to learn @ an early age to stand up for myself and to this I am still known as ********* because I speak my mind...

i don't like the thought of having people being nasty to me because I don't look right or because I dress funny... You know usual social c**p.. I just say to twits like that, if you don't like what stands before you then get gone because i don't wanna waste your time defending yourself..... LMAO

People are just s.h.i.t.heads like that and we just have to dust it off..

  3. I don't suppose you are married or speaking for married women??

  4. OMG! thank- you! i wrote an answer was totally a joke and was not even rude and i got reported! the question was why do people say 2+2=5 but how is it possible when 2+2=4? and i answered: OMG. really, dude, u need to go back to the 1st grade! then a couple of hours later  i got reported.

I along with other have seen some serious questions and problems on yahoo answers such as some people thinking about killing themselves, and some people on yahoo answer them them to kill themselves.

  5. Some women actually view their word as being less important than men. This is a side effect of a patriarchal, chauvinistic family environment. If you perceive that one of your female friends is doing this, please correct her. A woman's complaint is just as valid as a man's complaint.

  6. i've told off a lot of people, but i can honestly say i've never told someone to "butt off".

  7. Maybe it hormones.  Maybe its just a "Guy" thing.

Its something you just have to learn how to do, after you decide you want to be that way that is.

I know several women who can back a guy into a corner standing up for themselves.  You just have to learn also how to turn it off when you've won.

  8. You can buy pepper spray or that electricity thing that shocks people. Then they'll be afraid of who ever your talking about
