  1. to get your provisional license you have to take the driving test. maybe you mean learner's permit? tell them to ask the insurance agent

  2. You will need to have a your provisional (check), and you will need to insure the car for the purpose ie You as a learner driver put as a named driver. You will then need to display L plates of course. You are good to go!:)

Most insurance companys will do a few months tempory cover, so may be worth getting some quotes.

  3. To be honest, Addy, it would be better to take lessons from a professional instructor rather than your family.  With the best will in the world your parents will not be completely up to date, don't know the techniques to instruct successfully and inevitably will have picked up some bad habits along the way - we all do, whether we realise it or not.

Later on you may wish to practice with your parents, and they will need to add you as a learner driver to their insurance if you are using their car.

    Good luck.

  4. Car insurance is specific to the vehicle, not the driver.

So if you're driving your parents' car, you'll need to be added to their insurance as a named driver.

If you're getting your own car, then you'll need to insure it in your own name to drive it.

If you're learning with an instructor in their car, they'll be insured for any learner already.

    Good luck.

  5. As the driver, you need to be insured to drive the car. Cheapest way is for your parents to temporarily add you to their policy as named driver. But will still be expensive particularly if they have an expensive or powerful car.

  6. no u need insurance, or u and whoever is teaching u will get in troubly, its better to go with a proper instructor as they r insured to cover u.

  7. You will need to be put on theirs, if you don't you will not be insured to drive their cars.

  8. Either you go on your parents as a named driver, or, you get your own insurance.

  9. You need to get your parents to have you named on their insurance or if you have an accident you will not be insured an offence that can result in a driving ban.

  10. Yes you need insurance, ask your parents to add you as named driver.
