i'm going to start preparing for my theory. I'm worried about how much the theory books/cds tell you are you expected to have basic prior knowledge before you start learning. Like what a clutch or level-crossing is?? cos i have no idea :(

  1. just get either the pc software or the dvd off play.com, there under a tenner and just study them. In the first few lessons youll learn alot of it aswell, i had absolutely no prior knowledge and im on my 3rd lesson and doing really well.

  2. To do your theory, read the Highway Code, and you'll be fine!

The test is mainly common knowledge, there's nothing difficult about it.

And by the way, a level crossing is where a train passes over the road instead of a bridge or tunnel and the clutch in a car is the pedal on the far left, used to change gear.....you know?!

  3. Wow.. you dont know an awful lot.. Get learning fast. A clutch is the pedal on the very left which disengages a gear in a manual car. You then change the gear using the gearstick inbetween the middle of the passanger and driver seat and engage the gear with the clutch again. A level crossing is where a train track crosses through a road - with the barriers that come down?

I think you should invest in some books no matter what the price if you want to pass. Good luck, hope this helped.

  4. dont worry bout it ..... aslong as you pay a lil bit of attention as to whats happenin when your in the passenger seat you will be fine .... i dint revise at all for myne and passed such an easy test. all you gotta hav is common sence

    Hi,

You can rest assure, I have had to take 3 car theory tests, you will find the questions easy IF you practise the official DSA questions, which I have spent a few months doing, and probably taken just over 40 Mock tests.

However, the Hazard perecption test, which follows the questions, if fairly difficult, this is why I failed the test twice (question part passed).

You need to click at the right time and the score starts and 5, and goes down to 1, depending on how quickly to click. If you click too many times, you'll get zero for that particular clip.

    Questions : 44 Is a Pass (50 Maximum)

    Perception  44 Is a Pass (75 Maximum)

You will get 1 point for late clicking, 5 points maximum per a question.

The result will be in the form of a letter given to you at the end by the recpetionist. It will either say "CONGRADULATIONS, You've Passed" Or "I'm sorry to say that you have failed".

The CD's or £6.99 Monthly subscription to theory-tests.co.uk are priority, but you can purchase a Book as an extra. DSA Official theory test.

You can use Focus Multimedia Driving test successs perception, But make sure the questions come from an official (DSA) source.

There is no point in curing nerves either, they will go away once you've started the test on computer.

  6. Start reading the highway code. If your instructor isnt telling you these things then i suggest you get another instructor.

  7. The CD i had was very informative..you could answer ALL of the theory questions and see what answers were correct and what you needed to learn.

I kept going through the questions (theres about 900+) and i passed my theory 1st time.

Ask your driving instructor if you need more help

  8. There is absolutely no rush to start your theory. Take a few lessons with a professional driving instructor first - if he's any good, he'll give you all the theory help you need and advise you on the best way to learn.

    Good luck.

  9. GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!
