  1. looks good.

It is an electric guitar so you will need an amp

Also check its strings, make sure all 6 are there and replace any ones in bad condition

    good luck!

  2. It looks like a gibson or epiphone sg. What you are going to want to do is definitely take it to an experienced guitar luthier/guitar tech(repairman) and ask for a "set up". They will re-string it for you, set the intonation, check the frets, action, and truss rod/neck. Pretty much they will get it into tip top shape to learn on. Get a beginers book and start learning. Dont get fustrated at first. Just keep pushing and it will pay off.

  3. Man is that a Gibson SG??If it is....then you have struck gold...start playin right away...sometimes really old guitars cant be tuned cuz the wood is bent/warped on the guitar neck..if you have problems like these maybe you could get them fixed at the instrument store...

  4. Get it all checked out as the guy above said. Once that's done, find a teacher and take lessons. Trust me: you'll learn a lot more and progress much faster than if you were to teach yourself. Yes there are good books and websites out there, but eventually you will need a teacher. So you might as well start now.
