  1. Well, you're asking a very difficult question. Everybody is different when learning an instrument. It could take 5 years to play stairway to heaven and do the enter sandman solo, or maybe a year, I can't tell you in a period of time that you will be able to play that because it all depends on how fast you are at learning something, and getting it down correctly. After a little bit over two decades of playing guitar, I'm extremely good. However, some people still suck after two decades, because they either don't practice, or they don't try to build up their technique. I think when I was around 15, It took me about... 2 weeks to learn stairway to heaven, however it might take you longer since you have no experience.

I hear, like everyday, my students always asking me to teach them really complicated solo's. But in your case, you want to learn an easy one, Enter Sandman. It will take you a long time to learn any solo, even if you use Tab's, or sheet music, or whatever.

I think you're approaching how to play the guitar in a wrong matter. I went down your same road, and man... That was a wrong decision to do. I could've been as good as Batio or Yngie in less than a decade, if I built up my technique from day one. Don't try to learn songs when first playing the guitar, it's a waste because you would only know how to play that song only. I think you should actually learn the guitar, not a song. I remember my first teacher told me on the first day, "Look, I can teach you a song, and you would be only good at that song only. Or, I can teach the guitar." Take those words of wisdom into account.

    Hope this Helped!

P.S. You don't have to follow any of my advice, but as a teacher, I know what I am talking about.

  2. It will take you forever to learn since you don't know anything about a guitar.  There's a difference between learning how to play a song, and learning how to play a guitar.  I'll supply the information.  The rest is up to you.

  3. Why do you people keep asking this SAME QUESTION about 30 TIMES A DAY rather than looking in the Archives to see how it was answered the LAST 10,000 TIMES it has been ASKED this year?  I'm just sick and tired of answering THIS SAME QUESTION over and over and over.

Look in the Archives... there is a TON of information on this VERY QUESTION and that is a much better source than a one sentence answer.

My ANSWER to you... is the same answer I have already given 1,000 TIMES this year... HIRE A TEACHER at least for the first few lessons and practice, practice, practice... the answer never changes to this question because HIRE A TEACHER and practice, practice, practice IS THE ONLY ANSWER...

Before you go playing solos you need to learn some BASICS... at the LEAST you need to learn some chords and how to strum.  Trying to learn for FREE off the internet just means that your lessons aren't worth what you paid for them.
