Learning to play the guitar???? help?

Question

i just bought a guitar and well i want ot learn scales i saw some video on youtube.. but what's the point if they tell you whihc fret to press and stuff and you don't know the notes so i am wondering do you guys know any website that has the scales and the notes there at the same place thanks :P

also i been playing for around 2-3 days for about 2-3 hours a day all i have gotten down is E,A,G,D (i still have a little problem switching them) Chords. am i doing okay?

when i first got my guitar a year ago, it came with a beginners book that tells you all the notes and has little songs and stuff to practice, you should see about one of those, they are very good help for a beginning player

You're doing fine. Scales can be VERY boring when you first start. I'd learn chords first.

For beginner lessons, chords, etc. Learn how to read tablature if you don't yet. Reading music is always a plus, but tabs dominate when it comes to learning songs on guitar. For tabs of whatever you want to learn to play I'd recommend going to

Just search for a song and pick the tab with the most stars.

don't worry so much on the notes just  learn the tonic ( the note that names the scale such as E) www.chordbook.com has plenty of scales and chords. Also knowing scales and such won't help you if you don't know what to do with them i'm going to suggest CVLS they have awesome books that come with audio cds so that you know if what you're playing is right also they offer free guitar lessons at www.freeguitarvideos.com. Don't worry just practice learn at your own pace don't force yourself to learn but at the sametime don't be lazy practice as much as you can and stay motivated by listening to good music this will give you a goal.
