Question:

Learning to play the piano?

I have always wanted to play the piano. And now I want it more than ever but, I need a someone to teach me! I know it takes a while to become a great piano player. So I think I would need a private teacher what do you think? Also, Do you no anyone who can teach me?

  1. First, are you decent at reading music written in both treble and bass clef? You can work on that on your own (http://www.musictheory.net )

    It's difficult at first to play with both hands, but a great private teacher will definitely help you.

    I enjoy warm-ups out of the Hanon Piano Exercise Books to prepare my hands. They're just 60 patterns you can do, but they're great.

  2. You could look up "how to play piano" on youtube, that should get you started.

  3. A private teacher can facilitate any self learning you are able to accomplish. To find a teacher you can check your local music store and/or church and/or public school. They will be able to give you some suggestions. But remember, finding the right teacher is like finding the right doctor - you may have to take a few lessons with someone before you know whther it's a good match!
