  1. Start off by helping out at a local stable, but make sure you make it clear that you have no experience: too many people think that there is nothing to looking after horses and will lie about knowing how to handle horses.  These people often end up getting hurt, very quickly!

  2. The best job to start out is being  a hot waiker that is someone who walks the horse around the barn when the horse comes off the track and the groom give the horse a bath and you hold the horse and walk it around the barn for 30 minutes and put the horse in its stall. Just let your trainer know that you have no experience so you can start  with the gentle horses and ask what he pays    good luck

  3. Well, the way I got some experience was volunteering with an equestrian rehab program.

Basically, they used horses for physical therapy with kids who had dibilitating disorders and diseases. We worked with kids all the way from paraplegics (sp?) all the way to kids with dyslexia and ADD.

The great thing about it was we were helping kids, and we got to learn about how to work with horses. Grooming, feeding, maintaining tack, saddling, cleaning out stalls...etc...

And, since you've never worked with horses before this would be a great way, because all the horses at these places are chosen because they are patient and gentle.

  4. hope this helps some! my dad is a trainer! o and a motocross racer lol!!!
