I was a ameture C programmer few years back, but almost forgot now. But I like programming. So I have decided to learn a programming language in a good depth again.

So I want to know learning which language can give me good opportunities to earn working freelance or getting a good job. What should I learn, so I can earn while having fun with it?

Thank you very much.

  1. C#,Asp.net,Html,Css,Photoshop ... is basic set.

    This depends on project  requirement. If you are good at above set you can develop your own website or develop for others.

    You can also try freelance website like

  2. Depending on what you want to focus on, I would say either C++ or C#. Eventually you will want to learn both if you are programming for a job. C++ is a bit faster, but GUI creation can be a real pain. C# may be the best to learn first because, with Microsoft Visual Studio (or the free visual studio express), you can very easily create nice GUI's for your programs or web apps,  and use the .NET API's which have a function for just about everything you need. C# lets you create stand-alone programs or develop programs to run on complex/interactive websites. However, C# is not quite as fast as C++ because C++ is compiled into  code specific for that machine. C# does something similar to java and create a partially compiled program that is then fully compiled at run-time. This is to allow projects to be written with different parts in different .NET languages and still function together properly. Large applications should go with C++ because its faster and may use less RAM.

    Learn C# then C++

  3. C use to be a main subject for Degree programming student in my country. but now they change it to Java... Java is a powerful programming language! it's fun to learn too! however... you would want to have skills in C too! well, learning few languages doesnt kill!

  4. Many of the larger programming languages will be around for a long time, with very subtle changes that happen regularly. C++ is great, and beats C in many ways. C# is foreign to me and i cannot reccomend or advise you with it.

    OpenGL is for computer game programing, and so is DirextX enabled prgramming. Its all what you want to do. There are many free compilers out there for you, no matter what language you choose...

  5. I would say focus on java/C#. Both are very similar and relatively easy-to-learn languages that form a solid base to branch out from. From what I've experienced at career fairs, it seems like C# is gaining in popularity for applications, and C++, while, still very useful, is becoming less widespread. Java, on the other hand, is always useful, and companies love a programmer who can write all the code behind servlet and jsp pages. so take your pick or just learn them both; they're very similar.

  6. All depend on what you want to program in .

    C+/C# etc is really the way to go.

  7. instead of picking a language, pick an application area you like, and research what technologies are used there, and if there are enough jobs where you live to have a chance.

    if you are not a specialist, and you are starting out, you will find yourself obsoleted by more experienced people stateside, and cheaper, waaaay cheaper, people overseas.

    or you could move to Bangalore and you will be fine with anything!
