Okay well. Im thinking about leasing a horse for my little girl for a month ( Or 2 depends on how much it costs). And it also depends on the 15th because thats when she has her horse back riding lesson and its the fist time she is gonna canter and shes been riding an older horse. And im not sure if shes going to change horses to canter because he has a slow and stedy trot and he does not go veary fast and i dont think that he would do a canter. So i would like to know sites where i could just see wut normal prices are. And if any of you know anyone who rides at Green Branch Farms im thinking about leasing from there.

Thank you veary much.

  1. The price of leasing a horse will vary from stable to stable and horse to horse.  I would recommend not switching stables just to lease a horse at a cheaper rate.  You will not be able to negotiate the price down much if at all, after all, they still need to pay the horses bills.  Talk to her riding instructor and ask them if they know a horse you should lease or even if you can lease the one she is taking lessons on.  There is no set price for leasing because board, feed and cost of the various services such as vet and farrier vary from location to location.  Most stables that offer horses for lease will already have contracts available that they will not deviate from, they need to protect themselves and their interests first.  I can also say that I have never heard of leasing a horse for a month, or two, it is often like leasing an apartment in that some commitment must be made for half a year to a year or more.  That might not be true of the stable you work with, but I have never known of any agreement under six months in length.
