i have been thinking about getting this leather furniture at Macy's. Are dogs rough on the furniture? will there paws tear it up and scratch it? I have never had leather furniture, so i don't want to buy it if they can tear it up as it is expensive. I usually let the little dogs on my couch if they are laying near us, etc

  1. yes it does!!

  2. No dont do it, i spent 6,000 pounds on leather furiture, and i only have one dog, it lasted about a year, and he only went on it when we were out.

  3. In some ways, leather is a stronger upholstery material than fabric.  That doesn't mean it's impenetrable.  While leather doesn't tear as easily as fabric, it can be punctured.

Consider this: some upholstery leathers are smooth, some have grain, and some will show scratches (intentionally).  If you have a dog or dogs, the best type of leather upholstery to get is something with some grain to it that is aniline dyed.

Another rule of thumb: no matter what your furniture is upholstered with, protect it from your pets with a blanket or a heavy-duty fabric swatch.

  4. If you let your dogs on your couches I think you will be disappointed in the out come.

You will see the marks on the leather from their claws and any drool marks that get on it will stay...

Go look at couches and talk to someone and let them know your dogs love to cuddle up on the couch with you and your looking for a wonderful couch that is durable...

We have a beautiful Doberman but she isn't allowed on our furniture, we will cuddle up on the floor with blankets for our movie nights..
