  1. Animals aren't "getting extinct" because people wear leather. The people who manufacture leather, if they let their animals "get extinct" then they wouldn't be able to make a profit. It's supply and demand. If you don't want to wear leather then don't, but don't pretend there's suddenly going to be cows roaming freely. I vote no.

  2. If it's a food animal (cow, pig etc) it would be a criminal waste to just throw away the skin.

Hunting endangered animals is a different matter altogether.

    Ban fur not leather.

  3. I think all kinds of animal hides used for human use should be banned. Humans aren't going to give up their meat anytime soon...... so yes leather, aligator skin, chinchilla or just anything from an animal should be illeagil

  4. When an animal is killed to the point of extinction for human use, that is wrong.  There are examples of birds going extinct because they were hunted for their feathers, and that is tragic and wrong.

Exotic leathers should be banned, and in many cases, they are banned.  Sea turtle is a good example, you can't find anything made out of sea turtle any more.

But in general leather is a product that does not cause extinction, as for example pigskin or calfskin.  It is a renewable resource, so there is no harm to the environment.

So I would not support a general ban on leather, only on exotic leather.

  5. Leathers from endangered animals are illegal and I do not like mink farming but think that it is ok to use food cattle's hides for leather goods.

  6. i dont think animals would be extinct but i do think we should should put protection for these animals from poachers and boycott leather altogether because if there is not a market for the leather then sellers will see no point in killing any animal for their skin so they will stop.

  7. Animals are getting extinct?  There's a shortage of cows?  Not enough goats in the world?  Grow up.  Nobody makes leather goods out of endangered species.

  8. jackets and bags can be made of cloth but what about shoes. you are equally right when you talk of complete ban on leather ,for it is the need of leather the man kills animals. But what about the dead animal, we can use their leather for our shoes. Ain't it be feasible!

  9. Yes, I think it should be banned. Plus it's a cruel, evil business.

  10. Although killing an animal for leather is bad, what about making leather from an animal that has died of natural causes? I don't think that the animal should be wasted if it could be used to make something. There is no shortage of animals being used for leather. I think we are fine for now.

  11. Thats a good question because as much as i love shoes and handbags etc it does kill many animals and we do need them to survive and people are using things to make money and its not good so i have mixed feelings on topics like these

  12. It shouldn't be made illegal, but leather products should be made in moderation.  More often than not, companies produce in bulk, and half of their products get tossed in the trash because they can't sell it all.

  13. This is ridicules.  Man is an omnivore.  If you don't believe me, look at you teeth.  They were designed to tear meat, and grind plants.   If you do not like the idea of harming cows move to India.  DO NOT IMPOSE YOUR RADICAL VALUES ON ME.

  14. No, I dont think leather clothing should be made illegal. What needs to be done is more consistant enforcement of the laws against poaching and better management of the wild life that still exists. Not too mention making sure that we dont over hunt any particular animal.
