  1. I had leather with children and it didn't work out. Yes it's easy to wipe clean but did you know it scratches like crazy. I changed to fabric and I am much happier. Yes leather is cold in the winter and sticky in the summer. Trust me you don't want it. Buy fabric and scotch guard it yourself as soon as you get it. Don't pay to have the store do it. They just use scotch guard. A dog will ruin the leather with their claws.

  2. I would think that by having leather, the dog could easily scratch and tear it up. I personally would get fabric, but I wouldn't allow my dog on the couch.

  3. if you get leather the dog would tear it to pieces

but if you get fabric you would need to put some sort of blanket or cover over it to protect it from dog hair

  4. Leather, we have a leather corner group, best thing easily wiped clean, thing with fabric, is that if the dog has an accident or the kids with drinks or something like sticky hands, then you would have to have it steamed out and not a every day job, which could easily just be done with a wet wipe on the leather. Yes it can be cold but with me being a guy mostly in full length trousers, i haven't had the experience of it being too cold or even sticky in the summer.

  5. Yes leather would be more parctical, however I had one and hated it, we have just changed it for two, two seaters with removable washable covers. They are so lovely. they are warm, cosy, incredibly comfortable and easy to wash the zip off covers in the machine. I would never buy anything leather again. Also my sister in law has leather ones nad because shes had kids they are scratched and, (I know most people would spend more effort cleaning) they have milk spots all over them from kids bottles, and everytime I go there I want to tell her to clean it off, but its probably stained forever.

  6. I really like my leather suite - had it now for 6 years and still looks as new.

It is a little cold at first in the winter but as the room warms, so does the suite. I use a throw or a blanket to wrap around me whether its a leather or otherwise.

Leather may be more servicable and easy to keep clean with pets and children, but do remember to insure it as any sharp item causing cuts will be expensive to repair. I took out a 5 year warranty but didnt need to use it - only myself, my husband and occasional grandchildren.....visitors........I am really pleased I got the leather now - also doesnt absorb household smells as a material one would. (ie me burning the dinners)
