  1. You can buy rhinestones that you can apply, the only problem with the rivet backs is that the stone you are getting is synthetic, some leather cleaners or other products can easily damage the surface and also will easily scratch.

There are "high quality" makers of bling tack. (too disagree with Bobbi).  What is used rather than synthetic stones are the Swarovski crystals.  They are applied to silver conchos and other "pre used" metals previously used to design tack.   The thing with this is that you need to find good adhesives that will not allow the stone to fall off  in this kind of use.  Another thing I want to mention is that you CANNOT glue stones to leather.  Not if you want them to stay on anyway, the leather surface is too porous and the glue will not adhere permanantly.

Ok, so back to you actual question.  Yes, you can buy rivet back rhinestones, synthetic ones, and apply them yourself.  I own a leather shop and I do "Bling" equipment.  If you want more information just email me directly.

  2. Bobbi was very rude i dont agree at all!!!

but did u check to c if you could use the bedazzle thing on leather??? if not try looking it up on google =]

  3. Barrel,

You can get them at Tandy and they are like setting snaps.  They are putting "Bling" on everything for gymkanas and such!

If you are going to get a leather punch, get one of those that have the s***w in cutters and you have to hit with a mallet for it to punch.  Unless you buy the really EXPENSIVE rotating hole punches, the others aren't worth the powder to blow them to heck and back.  You'll probably need a jewel setter as well, so ask the guys at Tandy or any other leather store about the tools to set them in with.

I saw some really pretty "BLING" buckles, tips and keepers the last time I was at Tandy!

    Have fun!

  4. Its not my style. I personly like spanish/mexican styling. Conchos and all, but to each his own.

    www.tandyleather.com

Has pleanty of leather working tools for you. I know exactly what your looking for and I know they have it. I just can't think of what its called. Luck

  5. I get those at a leather store, I use Tandy Leather. I make pretty belts and headstalls out of them. :) Hope this helps!

Below poster: Do you ride english? 'Cause I see rhinestones everywhere! They're very popular. Or maybe you're in a different location, just curious. :)

  6. You don't see those jewels down the side of the REALLY nice headstalls and breast collars, you see silver, either German silver or Sterling silver.  Unless you aspire to be the laughing stock of everyone that sees you, you will NOT add those bedazzle things to anything that you use on your horse...or for that matter, anything that you wear while riding your horse.  Now, if you want to add silver to your tack, you can order it and it comes with chicago screws, which, if you have a leather punch to make the holes, you can attach to your tack quite easily...good luck
