Leave it to me to ask a dumb question. Who was this excited at the draft last year?

Question

Like Chicago drafted first and took a blue chipper. Phillie Phoenix, LA and Washington were next. Without looking it up Who were they? I cheated and I have only heard of one of the first five.

i love draft day. it's great. i look forward to it every year. last year it was 2 americans in top 5 and 3 canadians.

I'm always excited during draft time.  For me personally, this is the best part of the off season.  I don't remember off the top of my head who the guys picked were.  I know WAS took Alzner who along with Green will make a heck of a defense pairing in the future.  I remember LA reached with Thomas Hickey and surprised alot of teams.  Flyers took Van Riesmyk i think and for the life of me i can't remember who Phoenix took!  But yea, i'm usually familiar with most of the first round players in the draft as i try to follow the juniors alot.  Its a good gauge for me to see how my analysis of a youngster compares with that of a scout.

--ok, i had to look up the phoenix pick cuz it was killing me.  Kyle Turris!  I can't believe i forgot that one!  They signed him to a contract earlier this year too!

I was pretty excited about last year's draft, then the Leafs traded their picks for rounds 1, 2 &4 for a so-so goalie and a bell. Excitement over.

Let me think, 'Hawks took Kane, then Philly took ... gawd, I knew this a couple of beers ago ....

I honestly don't watch the drafts and didn't even know they were today. But i probably would have been excited had i known it was today.
