  1. Honestly it's based on looks most of the time. what kind of actress, theater? commercials, movies, etc. If you for real look good, and you're in a good market you can get work. Also depends on your race to. Get an agent (be nice to them and send thank you cards and stuff so they'll remember you. if they like you, they'll send you on stuff). Most actresses get jobs as a host or server in a restaurant b/c auditions are during the day, plus it's easier to get someone to cover a shift if you get a last minute gig. I started substitute teaching.

Study whatever section of acting your wanting to learn (theater commercial tv) watch tv and study behind the scenes and shows like 8th and ocean for tips on how auditions work. I'm telling ya it took me years to not get psyched out (by the beautiful and muscled guys) but after I started getting work, they didn't effect me. i had a great resume. And I saw that when this girl tried out for Popstars. She didn't make it into Eden's Crush b/c they were looking for the beige look (light skinned and latin looking) but how she acted helped me land some stuff.

You can get work and be a full time actresss if you're in a market and you fit the market. But if you want to be FAMOUS. then after you get some money saved and doing some good stuff, get a publicist, yeah that's half of your check but you'll get better gigs where the check will be bigger. Get a manager to, that helped me. You have a different presence i think when you have a friend or someone you know waiting with you in a room full of competition. I stay on phone texting so i don't have to look up.

    Good luck

  2. Sorry to have to break the news but there are no pros to this idea. Stay in school and graduate. Go to college and get involved in theater. If it were me I would get a college degree in theater. If you want to be an actress and it does not work out you will be sorry you did not graduate high school. What are you thinking? Do your parents know about this? If I had a daughter and she wanted to do this I would tell her to stay in school and study theater in college. I would up angry and upset.

  3. I see no pros to dropping out of school.  In reality, a very small amount of people become very successful actors.  If you finish school, at least you can have something to fall back if you decided to go to college and do something else.

  4. what if you dont make it as an actress huh wat r ya gonna do then? finish your education. take drama class or somthin

  5. Don't everyone ridicule her-I think it's definitely a valid question. You hear about so many wonderful actors nowadays (Ewan McGregor pops to the top of my head) who left high school to try to work as an actor. (I believe he did go to an acting school afterwards, though.) However, those who truly make it in the business are very, very rare, and you can't base your future around the chance of being one of the lucky few. (You probably know this, but it's not always based on talent-there are countless extremely talented, unemployed actors, while there are also countless talentless movie stars.) The question of going to college is one thing, but I think you must definitely DEFINITELY finish high school.

What makes you want to leave school so much? Is it because you feel like you don't belong there and it's not taking you where you want to go in life? That's a very valid feeling, but I say wait it out-you only have a couple of years left, right? (I'm not sure about the "year 10" terminology.) Do your work and enjoy high school while you're in it. See your friends, take tests, go to prom, do homework, etc. A couple of years won't kill you, and in the future you'll probably be glad that you stayed.

As far as college goes, I'm studying theater and acting at a good liberal arts college currently, because that's exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to go to college (there was never a question in my mind), and I knew I wanted to be an acting major. At the very least, look into schools that only focus on the arts (like Juillard), or conservatory programs in strong universities (like NYU.)

One of my good friends (who's an actor major with me at school) is currently planning to graduate a year ahead of our grade, so he can go out and work as an actor, because that's what he wants to do right now. He says that being in school is just not what he wants to do, he wants to start working. I'm capable of graduating early too if I want to, but I don't-I'm having a great time at college and want to complete it. It really depends on each person and their personalities.

I say go to school for acting. It's what I'm doing! Can't hurt, right?

  6. Consider this:

The VAST MAJORITY of aspiring performers have to work a regular job to support their quest for stardom.

What kind of job can you get if you are a dropout?

The job market is so tight now even a college education is sometimes not enough to keep some people employed to the level of their education.

ALL of the performing artists that I have seen interviewed had one thing in common:

They were ALL highly dedicated and motivated individuals (not into the "Easy" route).

I don't think you have the proper mindset to make it in show business if you will not even finish High School.

Maybe you should seriously consider another occupation.
