Leaving the country for 6 month or more?

ill be going to korea in august to teach english. I got my passport, and my E2 visa, but do i need to tell that ill be going away for 6 months to the government??? and please if i do, can give me a website or something. thanks

  1. If you are a permanent resident you are required to get a re-entry permit for trips of 1 year or more. If you leave for 2 years or more you lose your green card. If you leave for 6 months or more your "continuous residence" for citizenship is voided and you must start again.
