Im going to europe without my legal parents, but with my friends parents. i live in the usa(california) and traveling to europe(amsterdam). well i read online that you have to get approval to leave the country without your parents. where can i get that form online? i typed parental permission and it gave me bull....! so where do i hve to go to get this paper for my parents to sign. Im at the age of 14. so im considered as a minor. If ou find this parental permission paper can you give me the url. And if not, you know a place i can go to get it or for my parents to sign it off.

Hopefully you would be able to help out, and much appreciated.

  1. As far as I know, there is no standard Form.  The safest thing would be for your Parent's attorney to draw up a letter:

    "To whom it may concern:"

stating the facts including where you are going and for how long.

Then your Parents will sign it and have their signatures Notarized.  You keep the original and your parents and the attorney will keep copies.

  2. [SEE UPDATE BELOW]

Presuming you've already gone through the rather arduous process of getting your own passport:

    http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/min...

    Northwest Airlines on this page

    http://www.nwa.com/services/reqtraveldoc...

    recommends:

"Minor traveling alone: If a minor child is traveling alone or in someone else's company, both parents (or the sole, documented custodial parent) are recommended to provide notarized consent."

It doesn't say anything about a special form,

just a letter saying something like:

    ____ and _____, the parents of ______

    authorize ____________ to accompany him/her

    to _________ on ____ [dates]_____.

    and have it notarized.

Here is a discussion of the topic:

    EDIT/UPDATE:

There appear to be some commercial "services" that provide forms for a (high) fee, but I think those are unnecessary.

    See:

And for more information, Google on:

    international travel minor consent

    Bon Voyage!
