My Dove has just layed 2 eggs.

I am so pleased but she keeps leaving them, i think half an hour is the longest she has been gone.

I know the c***s are supposed to help incubate but he doesnt seem to be.

I wondered how long she had to leave them before they chill and do they die if they chill for too long?

This is her first brood so i dont know how successful it will be but i want it to be as successful as posible.

  1. It is normal for birds to leave the nest for short intervals...they cannot sit 24/7.  In the wild birds must leave their nests to forage, and feed.  Usually they do leave for 20-30 minutes, so this sounds fine.  Unless she is leaving for much longer periods I would say the eggs should be fine.

  2. I have had them leave for up to 30-35 minutes they seem to know when is long enough.
