What are the heritages that lebanes people have lefth through the time in the country you are living now ? Ä° was just remembering that in my country specially in Yucatan Peninsula they have left a lot of heritages specially in food (for example the introduction of Kebeh which later was mixed with some regional ingredients such as habanero pepper and now is part of traditional food in Yucatan) or in central Mexico where it is common to find some restaurants selling "arab tacos" mix of mexican food with pita bread...also they introduced some expressions which also were mixed with the spanish of that region such as: Uay La! (mix of mayan and arabic meaning (absolutely no!) or Mare que n'shaub hay! (it is too hot today!) or Mare que gelhua esta la mara (what a beautiful woman)!...could you tell me about your place? thanks....

  1. We don't have a large Lebanese community where I live but I guess most people know something here about Lebanese cuisine...if only tabbouleh !

  2. Here in Canada, when u tell them Lebanese, they say:  I love shish taouk!!  And lately, they are learning our bad habits too... smoking the shisha (Arguileh).

I cook so much lebanese dishes....tabbouleh, hommus, babaganoush, waraq 3arish,  (kibbeh no, bcoz is not my favourite) namura, mamoul...and pita bread.. I dont remember what else, but  i have tried to teach my sons to eat that food, although they dont like it all.

That's the price for marrying a non lebanese man,.

About the language, we havent mixed expressions as in Mexico.

New generations here have forgotten arabic lang, and they dont care so much about to keep it . But what i try by all the ways to keep alive in my family is the use of the hospitality.

Lebaneses here are well known for their hospitality......as in Lebanon...and I want to follow with that amazing and generous use..

    EDIT...Thx Belier....I forgot about tawouk...Como pude olvidarlo ????

  4. Well where i live they only now our food ...

    they die for it ------
