Lebron James tops as Miami Heat stun the Minnesota Timberwolves in a 111 – 92 rout
The Miami Heat put together a 25 - 1 run in the third quarter to hand the Minnesota Timberwolves a 111 – 92 loss here at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Friday. Dwyane Wade led all scorers with 32 points as the Miami heat overcame a below- average first-half
performance with a phenomenal third quarter to hurl the Timberwolves to their ninth-straight loss.
Lebron James had 27 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, while Chris Bosh managed 24 points and 11 rebounds. The Heat shot 54.5 percent from the floor, compared to the Timberwolves 42 percent.
Miami started the first quarter off strong, outscoring Minnesota with a 30 - 20 advantage. The Timberwolves responded by entering the second with a point to prove. They restricted the Heat to just 21 points in the period, while adding 32 points in the same
stretch.
Minnesota held a slight lead at the halftime mark, as the score-line read 52 - 51 in their favour. Miami blew things up in the third quarter by going on a spirited 25 – 1 run to grab a lead from which they never looked back. For the Heat’s big three of Lebron
James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh it was showtime as they shared the basketball and took turns scoring. In close to six minutes, they turned a somewhat tight game into a complete blowout.
The Timberwolves looked confused on both ends of the floor as the Heat came out swinging. The Wolves missed their first 14 shots of the second half, and Coach Kurt Rambis could be seen quietly shaking his head on the sidelines. Miami dominated the Timberwolves
in the painted area with a 50 – 34 advantage and also won the battle on the glass with a 46 - 31 disparity.
Minnesota finished the third on an 8 – 0 run to cut the Heat deficit down to 85 - 72, but the damage had been already done.
Lebron James closed out the game by pouring in 10 points in the last quarter as the Heat expectedly dominated the Timberwolves to improve their position in the Eastern Conference standings.
Martell Webster scored 22 points of the bench for the Wolves, and Kevin Love added 18 points and seven rebounds.
