Lebron lost as Celtics embarrass Cavaliers
If you watched the Cavaliers – Celtics game last night, you would have noticed that something just wasn’t right with LeBron James.
It might have been his elbow, it might have been his state of mind but there was something definitely wrong with the supposed ‘King’. Looking lost for the whole night and lumbering around the court, resembling Hurley from Lost, LeBron and Cleveland took a battering the franchise has never seen before.
Losing a game at home is one thing, losing it by 33 is a shambles and the blame has to start with Lebron, the so-called best player in the NBA. With that title comes responsibility and the way LBJ played last night, you have to wonder whether the responsibility was just too much for one person.
Shooting 3-14 from the floor is more reminiscent of Shaq’s free throw numbers than of the leagues’ MVP and although he had six rebounds and seven assists the Cavs need more. Let’s not forget LeBron’s first field goal of the game came in the third quarter. Would Kobe or MJ ever let this happen?
In fact it was Shaquille O’Neal who lead the Cavaliers in points scored with 21.
But give credit to the Celtics who played with energy no-one thought they had, and the job Kevin Garnett, Glen Davis and Ray Allen did on defence was a joy to watch.
Despite the defence you should be expecting more than just 15 points from your superstar. Last year in the play-offs LeBron’s low was 25 points. The year before that when they faced the Celtics his low was 12 points in the first game, he then went on to score 21 points three times, 35,32 and then 45 in a game seven loss.
So he’s shown in the past he can score against the Celtics and in the regular season in four games his low for points scored was 30. But when they needed him most Lebron wasn’t there to answer the call and even with the best team he’s ever had failure, again, looms large.
"I missed a lot of open shots that I normally make," James said with little emotion. "You don't see that out of me a lot so when it happens, it's a big surprise."
At one point the Cleveland fans started booing their team, but in reality they should have been waving goodbye because game five could have been LeBron’s last game for his hometown team and when you realise that only a handful of teams have ever won a championship with one Hall of Fame player, LeBron’s staying in Cleveland looks unlikely.
No doubt LeBron would like to go back in time and replay this game and yes he still has two games to save the Cavaliers, but unlike the characters in Lost, he doesn't have an island that can take him back in time.
