Ledley King to stay with Tottenham Hotspur

http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859, the Tottenham Hotspur defender, has revealed he will decide whether he wants to retire or continue playing on in the pre-season.
The 31-year-old has a chronic knee problem which limits the number of appearances in can put in a season. While he was not on the retained list the club provided to the English Premier League, King is still considering signing a new contract with the London
side.
King revealed he had no desire to join another club, having been with Tottenham Hotspur his entire career. According to the central defender, if he was unable to continue playing at the club, he would remain at White Hart Lane in a non-playing capacity.
King said while speaking to reporters:
“I had a really good start to last season and was pleased to play as many games as I did.
A knock in training set me back towards the end, but I opted to carry on playing rather than take the time out to have the knee seen to.
Unfortunately that meant that I didn't play the last few games at the standard I would have liked.”
As compared to his nine appearances for Tottenham Hotspur last season, King went on to make 15 appearances this season, all in the English Premier League. The English defender admitted he was pleased with his form this season, despite picking up an injury
during the season.
He revealed he could have gone on to play more of a role for the Spurs had he not picked up the injury in training, but nevertheless was pleased with his contribution to the side that finished fourth on the English Premier League table.
King said he was currently waiting to make a decision regarding his future and was discussing all the various possibilities with the club. He confirmed that he would wait until pre-season kicked off to make his decision public.
He revealed:
“I've been discussing things with the club and my contract expires this summer.
The club has been fantastic in supporting me and given me several options to stay involved with Tottenham. I shall take a view with them pre-season on my future.”
