Tottenham Hotspur skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859 has revealed his side were realistic in their chances of securing the Premier League crown this season.
In their last 19 fixtures Tottenham Hotspur have faced just one defeat and currently find themselves at third place on the Premier League table. While they waste an opportunity to close the gap with the league leaders following a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton
Wanderers, they will have a chance to make amends as they take on Manchester City this weekend.
Manager Harry Redknapp remains positive of his side claiming the title as long as they can defeat both Manchester City and Manchester United, whom they face later on in the season. However, King feels the team should not get carried away and should focus
on each fixture as it comes. He admitted they were in a terrific position but that did not mean they get carried away.
King said while speaking to reporters:
“We are in a great position at the moment and have probably surprised a few people. At this stage of the season, to be talked about as still capable of winning the title is great for us.
We are not getting too carried away at the moment, though. We are just getting our heads down and grinding out results.”
After a poor start to the season the London side have surprised quite a few people as they find themselves above the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international felt that his side had to remain
strong in the second half of the season so they could continue in their challenge for the Premier League title.
The Spurs skipper, who is currently out injured, urged his side to retain their match winning form until the end of the season. He revealed:
“We look at the league table and we can see we are in amongst it.
That is new to us and maybe people would expect us to fall away in the second half of the season but, as players, we believe in our ability and we believe we can keep getting results.”
