Lee-Anne Pace fails to make the cut
South African golf star Lee-Anne Pace missed the cut in the Ladies Irish Open. She managed to miss the cut by two strokes.
From the very start, Pace appeared to struggle in the event. Her performance in the first two rounds was not what her fans are accustomed to. At the end of the second round, her score was 153, two more than the cut off score, 151.
She started the first round with a birdie on the second hole. This encouraging start was immediately overshadowed by three consecutive bogeys.
These bogeys did irreparable damage to her score and she did not recover from this throughout the event. However, these three were not the only bogeys of the round.
On the back nine, she again hit a bogey on the 13th hole. When the fans thought that it could not get any worse, she sank a double bogey on the 16th hole. She finished this round with a total score of 75.
The next round was even worse. Pace started this round with a bogey on the first hole. She scored a birdie on the second hole, but this start left many fans wondering about Pace’s chances in the tournament.
She repeated her performance of the first round and sank two consecutive bogeys on the third and fourth hole. This, however, was not the bad news of this round.
The back nine of the second round was where Pace lost her chances of making the cut. She played a very below average game and despite two birdies, ended up missing the cut. Her first birdie was on the 13th hole and the next was on the 18th.
What surprised everyone were her two double bogeys in this round. Pace is well known for her excellent game and this is perhaps the first time in her career that she had played such a dull game.
She sank her first double bogey on the 16th hole. Immediately, she hit another on the 17th hole.
Pace has seriously disappointed her fans in this event. Given the entry list of the tournament, she was expected to finish in the top-ten.
