Lee-Anne Pace firm to boost position in Order of Merit
Lee-Anne Pace of South Africa, who has been trying to end her LET (Ladies European Tour) victory drought since late 2010, is not going to take part in the Hero Women’s Indian Open 2012.
Pace, who is currently standing at the third position in the ISPS Handa Order of Merit, would have been a solid addition to the already stunning field.
The Hero Women’s Indian Open is going to feature giants like the defending champion Caroline Hedwall of Sweden, Spanish Carlota Ciganda and Caroline Masson.
However, the South African star will definitely be looking to atone for her Indian Open absence at the season-ending Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012.
Since she is standing at the third position on the LET money list, it will be very crucial for her do her best in Dubai. However, the competition is likely to turn into a tough battle as Ciganda
and Masson will be fighting for the Order of Merit title.
Ciganda is currently standing at the number one position on the list, while Masson is at the second. Since Masson, who hails from Germany, is not going to take part in the Hero Women’s Indian
Open, Ciganda has a good chance to further strengthen her position by recording a strong finish.
In Dubai, she may not find it easy to win the tournament, as Masson will likely to hamper her from moving up on the money list.
Masson is being regarded as one of the strongest contenders in the roster of Omega Dubai Ladies Masters as she has already vowed to knock Ciganda off the top spot.
It remains to be seen how Masson will tackle the pressure on the course when she tees off the event on December 5.
The German golfer has been known for her short temper, but she pointed out in one of her interviews that she is working on how to hold her nerve on the course.
“I had a really bad temper in tennis. My dad’s a tennis coach and when I was a junior it was really, really bad. I couldn’t stand losing to someone,” she had said. “Golf is a lot better but
if I know I can play much better I get a little mad at myself, but it got better in the last few years”.
