Lee-Anne Pace gears up for South African Women’s Open
Lee-Anne Pace is ready to win at South African Women’s Open. The tournament is all important for the South African player, who has her heart set on winning the tournament. There are several reasons for Pace’s excitement.
The most prominent is the tournament itself. South African Women’s Open is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the South African golf calendar.
Many international players also value the title and above all the large prize money attached to it. The fact that the tournament is back after a break adds more appeal and explains Pace’s excitement.
In an interview, Pace said, “I am extremely proud that the South African Women’s Open is back on the schedule and that our leading professionals can once again have the chance to compete against the world’s best on home soil”.
South African Women’s Open is a tournament that the South African players see in a patriotic light. The defending champion, Tandi Cuningham, a South African player, triumphed in the 2009 edition of the tournament.
However, patriotism is not the only motivation of Lee-Anne Pace. The top seeded player is in search for a win to better her record for 2012.
Pace has a rather uneasy 2012 season so far. She played in almost every LET event and did well in some of them. Her best was a third position in Deloitte Ladies Open.
Pace is not accustomed to this lacklustre performance. She had a great performance throughout 2011 and 2010 and she would like to close this year with a major title to her credit.
Pace will have major resistance in realising her goal. For one, she will not be the only South African player on the golf course.
South Africa will be represented by a large group of pros and amateurs. Every one of the group will do their best to grab the trophy or, at least, post a decent position on the leaderboard.
International players will also make their appearance on the golf course. South African Women’s Open is one of the best known tournaments in the golf world.
Add to the fact that it is back after a gap of two years, makes it particularly appealing to many players.
Everyone is excited about the South African Women’s Open. Pace will have the benefit of home crowd. This is something she normally does not get while playing in international tournaments. Home crowds are a tremendous support for any player.
Another point that goes into Pace’s favour is the golf course itself. Playing on a home course is a tremendous advantage that Pace will exploit to the fullest.
Pace has been looking forward to South African Women’s Open and plans to add another feather to her cap this year.
