Lee Bowyer is not worried by lack of goals
Birmingham City midfielder Lee Bowyer is confident that he will be able to score goals for his club this season.
The former England international has not scored for the club since December 2009. The attacking central midfielder scored six times last season, with his last goal against West Ham at home.
Speaking about his recent goal drought, Bowyer said, “I always love getting in the box, getting the odd chance and putting them away. I haven't had any chances yet this season, but no doubt one will drop to me soon and hopefully I can take it."
Birmingham City will play Everton at St. Andrews this Saturday, but they will be without their top scorer, Craig Gardener, who has scored four goals this season.
Gardner was sent off against Wigan and will be suspended for the visit of Everton. With the midfielder out, Bowyer will be looking to end his poor scoring form.
Despite not scoring since 2009, Bowyer has turned in a number of good performances for his side so far this season. The Blues have remained unbeaten at home for over a year, in a run that stretches over 21 games in all competitions.
This is something that Bowyer has played a huge part in. He said, “The lads have done great to do that, especially when everyone was saying we were going to get relegated. We've just got to keep going and working hard for each other, because if we don't
we won't win games."
The 33-year-old is wary of facing Everton despite their poor form so far this season.
"You can bet your life that they won't stay there, because they're an exceptional team," said Bowyer.
The Birmingham midfielder added, "David Moyes has worked wonders since the time he took over and they're definitely a top-eight side.”
Birmingham will go into this match as favourites due to their amazing home record.
