Lee Chong Wei's coach thinks the player can perform despite gruelling schedule
Malaysia’s Men’s Singles national coach, Tey Seu Bock, says that Lee Chong Wei has the capability of performing well despite being fatigued because of a tough schedule.
The World Number One Chong Wei has silenced the critics by winning two back-to-back titles in the opening two weeks of current year and also proved that he is determined to live up to expectations in all upcoming events including 2012 Olympic Games.
Chong Wei have been playing quivering badminton for the last four months after losing the final of World Championships in August last year. After the mega event, he lost many important matches in different events to China’s top shuttlers, Lin Dan and Chen Long.
However, the Malaysian has got rid of his short bad patch and has defeated Lin and Long in two consecutive tournaments and won the titles in both events including Korea Open Premier Super Series and Malaysia Open Super Series.
The World Number One bagged the Men’s Singles title at Malaysia Open, which was his eighth victory in this home event. His coach, Seu Bock, is happy with his performance in the recent events.
In the final of Korea Open, Chong Wei proved his mettle against Lin Dan and won the match in three games. With this victory, he proved that he is the top favourite for Men’s Singles title at London Olympics.
In the second event of current year, which was Malaysia Open, Chong Wei thrashed Chen Long in the semi-final contest and eventually won the tournament by beating Kenichi Tago of Japan in the final showdown.
While talking about Chong Wei’s tough schedule and fatigue, Seu Bock said that he can overcome it and can deliver best results.
Seu Bock said, "Winning the two titles has proved that he can overcome tiredness and still perform at the highest level. However, he cannot rest on his laurels as China will definitely come up with ways to counter Chong Wei so he has be to be prepared.”
He further added, "Everyone kept saying that Lin Dan is ahead but Chong Wei has also beaten him which will motivate him to work harder. There are another five to six months before the Olympics and Chong Wei must keep working hard.”
Now, all top shuttlers will meet at the All England Open Premier Super Series in March and Chong Wei will compete in the event to win his third title in a row.
