Lee Chong Wei confident to win World and Olympic titles to complete his legacy – Badminton news
World Number One Malaysian shuttler Lee Chong Wei is confident to win Men’s Singles titles in Olympic Games and World Championships to complete his legacy as he has grabbed all other major titles in the arena of badminton.
Chong Wei, who has been remained at the top in Men’s Singles world placements for the last three years, is looking forward to achieve his ultimate target which is to grab a gold medal in 2012 Olympic Games.
After the Olympics, Chong Wei will shift his focus to the 2013 World Championships, which will be his last appearance in that mega event and after that he will quit from playing competitive badminton.
Chong Wei has been one of the most successful shuttlers in the history of Malaysia because of his consistency, hard work and dedication. He has set higher standards for himself and always remains busy to achieve his targets.
Last year, the Malaysian drew near to win the title at World Championships but failed to finish it as Lin Dan of China somehow managed to play well in the end and grabbed the title.
Chong Wei got disappointed with that loss and took almost four months to get rid of that frustrated condition.
However, in the opening month of current year, he proved his worth again and took two major Super Series titles including Korea Open and Malaysian Open.
He said, "I have put the disappointments behind me and have started with winning the Korea Open and Malaysia Open. The All England is also important but there is no pressure on me and I want to enjoy myself in this tournament. All my efforts will be geared
towards the Olympics."
He added, "After the Olympics, I will be preparing for the World Championships. Then I will take a one or two years break from badminton to focus on my business. I may decide later whether to take up coaching."
Currently, Chong Wei has secured his berth in semi-final of All England Open Premier Super Series 2012 in a bid to hunt down his third successive title as he has won the previous two editions of this prestigious event.
Completing a hat-trick at All England Open will boost his confidence in the Olympic Games, which will kick off in London from the last week of July.
